that's strange,, when i did a restore on a friend's (same model) it booted off the DVDs (made by putting my burner in his machine),, and went straight in the recovery process,,, i tried the FN-F10 to do the D2D restore off the hidden partition, but i kept getting 1 error after another. maybe you will have better luck w/ the D2D recovery
try holding the FN key while contially pressing the F10 key before and while the ACER boot screen appears.
then hit enter when the black (dos style screen appears) .... it's worth a try

on this forum. you can copy the files to the c drive run from command line and then you can use the alt+f10 key to start the restore.
the files are suppost to be in pqservice f drive -
so your saying they are on the hidden partition???
if so i can't help you there, because after wiping Vista off my laptop i deleted all the partitions,,, and then created 1 primary partition which is the full size of my HDD.... i've looked all over the backup DVDs and can't find them in any of the folders.... i even used the windows search feature and had no luck finding them that way either.
i do have the restore DVDs but i don't a Laptop w/ the hidden PQservice partition. sorry i can't be of more help.
good luck,

What size is C and what file system is used ?
It has to be NTFS and around 15 GB for Vista.
If you need to change your drive configurations you can use: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php
You can use http://www.vistabootpro.org/ to make your new Vista boot.
Be sure and backup all important files before you do anything.
