Im upgrading a friends 5920, but need some advice. It currently has 2gb ddr2 running at 333mhz, dual channel (2 1gb sticks). Im looking to install 667mhz ram but would it be best to install 4gb in dual channel @667mhz and only have 3gb usable (32bit os) or just buy a 2gb stick @667mhz to raise it to 3gb but only be in single channel? im presuming the 667mhz stick will be reduced to 333mhz as that is the slowest?

Or buy 3gb 1 1gb stick and 1 2gb stick so it will run @667mhz but in single channel? Bearing in mind doing it this way costs nearly as much as 4gb.

2x2GB @667MHz (native speed for SantaRosa (PM965)). 800MHz would be downclocked and are more expensive.

It probably runs at 667, it's just the software that reports lower values.

Running Dual Channel is always better than single channel. It sucks only 3gb is usable.
