Could be an overheating problem, forcing your system into shutting down.
Run HWmonitor and see what your idle temperatures on the CPU and GPU are.

(loving the icon, btw - Sonic 3 & Knuckles is one seriously epic game)

Well, see if you can find another hard drive to put in and test with.
Or if you can't, download a bootable Linux Live CD or USB and see if it shuts down when the hard drive's not in use.

Disable a hard drive completely? Hm, not sure.
Have you run error tests on the supposedly malfunctioning one?

ok heres my progress: if a run a game like sf4 dmc4 the laptop doesn't turn off, and in safe mode either. i don't know whats happening, antivirus reports nothing. maybe formatting the hard drive would fix this?

Wouldn't hurt if you back everything up.
Could also be a failing hard drive.

If you're positive that it's not overheating, check the Event log and see if there are any critical failures or anything out of the ordinary. Then you might want to run a hard drive check.

ive formatted one hard drive, the problem persist, i cant install an os because it turns off like in 2 minutes. im still left with one but if i format the other maybe it will still the same and lose the laptop completely, by the way im installing the os via a dvd does the hard drive stills working while its installing it?

I have an Acer Aspire 5471 and I'm having similar issues with my laptop just shutting down randomly. How exactly did you "disable" one of the processors (or cores)? I'd like to give it a try. Thanks.

Go to control panel>hardware and sound>devices and printers and click device manager, there you should see a list of all the drivers the laptop has, go to processor and right click you should see a list and disable is the second option. first of all check if the laptop doesnt turn off in safe mode.
