Hi all, I'm new to this forum and have been searching for threads with similar problem as mine with no success and am starting this thread asking for help in fixing my 6930.
    Here's the problem:
I left the pc on at night on my home page and in the morning I found it with an error message that it could not find the operating system to booth up. I tried reboothing it with no success even with f10 it did not work. I get the same message. I had made a backup disc and it didn't help (I just read that I should have made a eRecovery disc). Can anyone help me? I thank everyone in advance.

P.S...You can PM me if you'd like.

It sounds like your HDD is gone. Try to download Windows 7, or whatever your operating system is (there is legal link on this forum) and try to re-install your OS. Don't forget that, if your device is listed, you'll proberly have to delete everything on the drive, with other words, format it.

Do you have another HDD you can try out?

Let me know if this helps..

Thanks tunay for your reply. As I said before I have no OS disc. I'd like to recover the files at least. I do have a brand new replacement HDD but without an OS disc I'm still dead in the water, don't I?
By the way, do you have a link to download that Windows 7? Thanks again!

Thanks tunay, there's lots of good info on that link but ran into a snag trying to download the files with my Dell Inspiron 5100 XP pc downloading at a speed of ~50kb/s. I found a link to downthemall that's supposed to speedup the downloading of large files but that too is limited to 2.5gb and a file xbox1 is 2.66gb and the program loads up the whole internet downlods and would not allow me to choose a single file instead a message pops up directing me to a premium downloading program to sign on so I quit it.

Following and reading other forum links listed on your link I found instruction on how to download directly onto a DVD boothable Vista ISO with 3 files but could not find where to go to download those files, either. They listed the files as WIM, and exe types, but where are they?

I do have a KEY for Win 7 Ultimatum that I never installed on my now broken Acer desktop t5hat I could use on the Acer laptop, but again I need to be able to boothup first to install the upgrade.
I appreciate very much all your help but am still dead in the water! If I had those files burned on a flashdrive or DVD I could boothup my pc and fix my problem, I think! I need help.... Thanks again for your help!

Let's not get into "what can be downloaded from where"- NBR is not that kind of website.
No more posts on the matter please- one link that is said to be legal has been provided- if that's not enough you're on your own.

Hey, tunay, I really appreciate your helping me. I didn't mean any disrespect for your suggestion, I just wondered if you knew of another option. If not I'll give it a try and hope for no consequences. As you can see I'm getting desperate!

Just a thought, could that message mean that maybe the HDD has dumped and lost all of its contents leaving it with nothing to be read off of it or maybe the electronics went down and is unable to read the HDD?
    All replies are appreciated!

I'm sorry, can you write the error message you get again?

It can be your system failing, but then again, you should be able to install the OS over the old one and access your files. IF your HDD is dead, then it is dead, you can try a external USB converter, but I dubt if it will work.

Sure, it reads, "A disk read error has occurred, Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

I've removed and placed the HDD from the 6930 into a SATA to USB adapter docking station and plugged it into the USB port of my Dell Inspiron 5100 with XP OS but could not find anything on it. It showed 3 drives, E,F and G and having 13GB, 116GB and 109GB rispectively with E drive showing as active and healthy while F and G are showing as healthy. All 3 drives are showing 0 Bites used and 0 Bites available with full capacity. Why couldn't I see any files or the OS booth file? Is this something I can pursue? Can you lead me?
I'm really appreciative of all your help. Thanks-a-lot!!!

Thanks tunay for the reply. No, I don't hear any abnormal noise, when I power it up I hear the drive turning with a normal sound and the Acer logo displays, then the screen goes blank and I hear the HDD spinning then the error message appears.
I'll pursue the win7 install after I format the new HDD, then, maybe, I'll be able to check the bad HDD. Wish me luck. Thanks for your help again.

Dear tunay, as it looks right now, I'm back to square 1. I've confirmed one of Murphy's law that says, " If you don't use it, you lose it!". That seems to be my immediate predictament. You see, a while back, and I have to go back to check my files as to when, I purchased a flash drive with win7 with auto start up and install on an Acer Aspire with Vista home premium, ~2yrs old, desk top that was corrupted, to update it to win7 Ultimate with a key. My desk top pc went belly up and I didn't do the upgrade. Now that I wanted to use the update that had both the update and new install options on it, I've been looking all morning to find that flash drive with no success. I'm going to try to contact the seller hoping he can send me a replacement, if he can verify and accept my exclamation. Again, wish me luck!

Thanks again for your help! I'll update my post as it progresses.
