dear all,
anyone can confirm that these models really have the GDDR3 and DDR3 video ram and memory ram for the said models......coz i am quite confused because the HP dv5's and dv7's have the same specs as these models but the videocard of the hp's is not gddr3 and ddr3 respectively......what am i missing here..........are the video cards and memory ram types the same or acer is better coz its ddr3 already compared to the hp's ddr2 only memories?
coz right now am torn between this two brands....acer seems better in spec sheets coz it says the video n ram are both ddr3 already....thats better right??....anyways hope someone can shed light for me.....
thanks,
cheers ya all

I've got an acer 6935G, this is a screenshot taken from Everest (it's dutch though).
I'll PM it to you since I can't post screenshots until I've made 15 posts
Edit: looks like you can't PM :/ -
My Acer 6935G is using GDDR3 for the Graphic Card and DDR3 for memory RAM
-
Same here for the 8930 (9700M).
I know that some models of the 6930 with the 9600M GS and 9500M GS are DDR2 -

I'd say the 9700M GT isn't much more powerful as it's still a mainstream card since it's limited by the 128-bit memory bus width, but it produces a lot more heat due to it being 45W (vs. 23W). -
I wonder if it's possible to overclock a notebook GPU, but I think it's quite risky as the heatsink is quite different than desktop GPU. -

P.S the 6935G uses DDR3 RAM on the mother board.
The GPU uses DDR2 as far as i'm aware. -

awesome. I'm getting the 6935G at the end of this month.
The model with 2.5ghz dual core cpu and the 1920 x 1080 screen -
whats the 3Dmark06 for the 6935G

Don't believe notebookcheck, they are guessing/not doing accurate results.
9600M can score anywhere between 4500 to 5200.
My 9700's best result was 5800, suprisingly with stock clocks. After overclocking and downing the latest drivers, I'm getting lower scores.
Time to go back to 177.79 -
Acer rocks...Even more with much improved build quality etc.
They were (and still) are best sellers in numerous countries.
The old story. Treat a "thing" well and it will last. Forever.
Treat a "thing" badly and it will break. Includes girlfriends, wives, cars, lawnmowers etc. and laptops.
In no particular order.
Sorry to offend anybody.....but it's true. -

Exactly the build quality of acer's is pretty decent. Not as good as sony's but your paying a hell of a lot less so it is to be expected.

wow did not know my thread catch on with some of you.....thanks for all of your responses.....
but what i am really trying to ask before.....is that why does acer aspires 6930 and 8930's have ddr3 ram and vram in them.....while its the same specs i see on the new hp pav dv5 and 7t's.......specially the videocard which is 9600 nvidia gt 512 mb......whats the difference between them......how come hps v/c isnt ddr3 vram??how come acer's are ddr3?the same videocard....right?also the ram memory how come only acer as of now uses the ddr3 ones......not sure about others.but i havnt seen any laptops yet that advertises ddr3 for their ram memory.....maybe there is now.....
thanks,
cheers -

There are 2 different versions of the 9600M. Same with the 9500M GS, 8600M GT, 8600M GS and almost all mid-range cards out there. The Dv5t has the DDR2 version of the 9600M and the 6930 has the GDDR3 one. Simple.
Uh, HP doesn't use DDR3 RAM because, how do I put this, they don't want to. You can't just ask "why didn't they do this and that". Also, DDR3 RAM costs more than DDR2 RAM. So maybe HP wanted to lower the price of the already dirt-cheap Dv series. -
sorry people dont know, thats why i asked......
thanks anyways -
Ok then...
