hello! i've had my acer aspire for a little less than a year and it's a very nice computer for what i intend to use it for, however it will randomly overheat (even when on a desk!) and the CPU meter spikes to %100.

i'm not very tech-savvy, so i could really use some pointers. it's nearly impossible to play games of any kind on here or use skype without the other person being unable to understand me due to the immense lag that just seems to get better after a few minutes.

any help or advice is greatly appreciated, thank you! i'm not running any complex programs, i just want something for internet browsing and occasional gaming.

Well, first we need to pinpoint the process that's consuming all of the CPU resources. Open up your task manager, head to the processes tab and click on the "CPU" header to sort processes by CPU usage.

you also mentioned OVER-HEATING.... are you running any programs that monitor heat???

if not download one... RMClock, NHC, or anything that monitors heat should work.... but we need to see how hot your CPU is getting... that could cause some of your problems...

but we also need to see what tasks are eating your CPU time up like the the post above says
