hello , i own an acer aspire 7720 . recently i have been getting laptop freezing both in safe mode and in vista normal mode . i checked the ram with memtest and it checked out ok . i then checked the hard drive , western digital 160gb sata that originally came with the laptop , and it threw a couple of errors . i checked with wd error codes and it tells me that the drive is defective and to replace it . i am looking into replacing it with a 250gb one .

    question is , can i install a bigger one than 250gb , like for example a 320gb or 500gb one ?

    thanks .

You should be able to, mine came with a bracket thing with two SATA ports on it so the new drive would go into Sata 2. The system will boot with Sata 1 and 2 will be the extra drive.

    thanks

Yes most likely, all you can do is try. Mine are running at full speed without the jumper.
