i happen to have gotten for free an acer aspire 7720 and i have an issue with the audio. the driver for the audio that acer provides doesn't allow the audio to go through the speakers it only come out the headphone jack. i had the audio work right when i originally got it and installed windows 7 under the 1.14 bios but when i upgraded to 1.45 now any window or linux doesnt put out audio through the speakers. also when windows 7 first installed the audio driver it was one that had the headphone jack as a sepret ouput divice and now all that shows is the speker/headphone jack and the optical jack. i have not been able to get the audio back the way it was from after the bios upgrade cause no os will install the driver correct or not use the correct settings and i cant get the os to be able to change the divice from headphones to sepaker out when it says it is working on the speakers. in linux there is nothing i can do to make it work either. i am thinking of going back to the 1.14 bios and reinstalling windows 7 but i cant find anywhere that has the 1.14 bios. i dont know of where i can resolve the issue. i have googled the issue and it seems to be a common issue with various models of acer aspire laptops. if anyone knows how to fix this issue please let me know. i have installed drivers, i have uninstalled drivers, i have tried the acer driver and i have tried the windows drivers to no avail.
