    Uninstall the Nvidia drivers from the 7730 before plugging in the GT 240M. Then, reinstall them again after Windows picks up the new card.

    ill try that tomorrow
    i found out that the 7730 needs the copper shim to cool the card :)
    just need to figure out if it is the same as in the 5920g or the other i recived :)
    and i need some new thermal paste

    edit:
    It works now
    what you said worked,
    i used the copper shim from the acer aspire 5920g fits perfectly
    and its even better at cooling the gfx, so now its an 7730 with a gt240m and an 5920g with a 9600gt

    what cpu would you recomend,
    what would it be able to handle,
    it has an t9400 cpu

    If you got the cash to spend, go for the x9000. I'm going to get one for my aspire 6920g, so if I beat you to it ill post the results and let everyone know how well it works.

    The X9100 is a better choice if the motherboard supports a T9400.

    Or, you may even try putting in a quad-core.

    i heard that the x9000 series gets hot, but thats just something i heard
    maybe the quad core would get hot too

    its not a driver issue, because the laptop does not get past bios, therefore its not a driver problem

    Chances are, the extra pins used by quad-cores are simply not connected on the 7730 motherboard. (Quad-cores use the same physical socket as dual-cores, but with slightly different wiring - specifically, quad-cores use a few extra pins that were marked as Reserved or NC in the original Socket P specification.)

    thanx for the info,
    do you think a hardware mod could do the trick?

    i have looked at the datasheet for both quadcore and the dual core
    and yes there are some extra pins that are needed to be connected, but allso 3 pins that needs to be disconnected

    CORE 2 DUO------------------------------------------------------------------------------ QUAD CORE

    T2 = RSVD - RESERVED-----------------------------------------------------T2 = THRMD A_2 - power/other
    D3 = RSVD - RESERVED------------------------------------------------------D3 = TDO_M - open Drain - output
    V3 = RSVD - RESERVED------------------------------------------------------V3 = thrmd c_2 -= Power/other
    M4 = RSVD - RESERVED------------------------------------------------------M4= bpm_2 [0]# - commen Clock - output
    N5 = RSVD - RESERVED-------------------------------------------------------N5 = bpm_2 [0]# - commen Clock - input/output
    F6 = RSVD - RESERVED-------------------------------------------------------F6 = TDi_M = TDI_M (Test Data In)
    D8 = VSS - Processor core ground node-----------------------------------D8 = RSVD = Reserved
    F8 = VSS - Processor core ground node------------------------------------F8 = gtlref count-rol - switch between Dual Core and quadcore modes

    AA7 = VCC - Processor core power supply---------------------------------AA7 =BR1 - Arbitration Request signal for the second die.
    AE8 = VSS - Processor core ground node----------------------------------AE8 = bpm_2 [3]# - BPM_2[3:0]# (Breakpoint Monitor)
    AC8 = vVSS - Processor core ground node--------------------------------AC8 = RSVD - RESERVED

    I found Acer 5920G, there is only 8600M gpu, not Gt 240m. I have 7730G with 9600M gt and P7350 cpu. Looking some parts.
