got this laptop a little while ago. just took it out of the box and turned it on. then next thing you know, it turns off. i try to turn it back on, but no go. i thought it was the battery but even plugged in with power cord it won't turn on at all

has anyone experienced this??? any idea what might be wrong???

i hear their tech support is a nightmare so i figured i ask here first.

    thanks.

any one have an idea? the power button is basically dead. it has no response :(

do laptops have a power supply like desktops where they act basically like a power adapter to all the hardware components or is it something different?

    any help is much appreciated.

Hmm...in this case you will probably have to send the laptop in for service. Not much you can do but try holding the power button for a few seconds without the battery inserted and then put the battery & A/C adaptor one by one and see if it boots up. If it doesnt then you most probably have to contact Acer support on this one.

As for as the power supply it is the black box located in the power cord. It is quite similar to desktop ones but are a lot smaller and so have a lower wattage rating.
