    hi all

    i've had heating problems with my ferrari 4006 for quite some time now,but i used "rmclock utilty" to underclock /undervolt it to 800Mhz and run it for long periods,and at 2.2Ghz in short time periods(with less intensive applications),

    but now it does even run for 10 seconds at 2.2Ghz,also the temperatue vary like crazy for example from 41C to 84C,,but at 800mhz its still runs

    also just b4 turning off there is a sound of the fan going VERY FAST and then it shuts down,

    could it be that the fan at its top speed draws a lot of current or sumthing,
    i cant think of something

    plz help

    thanks in advance

    Do a BIOS update. You can find the utility on acer ftp site. It runs from windows and it's very easy. If you have any problems doing that give me a PM and I will asist you.

    Dust clogging up the fan and/or vents. Clean up and all should be normal.

    Check this before doing anything else.

    Cheers,

    @teejay
    i've cleaned it already,

    @rad_2k:
    i've got the latest BIOS

    any other solutions??

    i dont think this is a software problem,but if it is hardware is it the motherboard,processor,power supply??

    this cud be a big factor.......just b4 turning off the fan goes VERY FAST and then it shuts down,cud it be that my power supply fails whens the fan spins very fast??

    i shud also mention again that the temperature varies A LOT,it shoots up and cools down in very small intervals,cud this be bcoz of a bad processor??

    thanks again

    have you replaced the thermal paste on the CPU ?
    i do this every couple of years. but this means striping down your laptop.
    or you could try a cheap cooling pad.
    always try the simple things first before it becomes a headache to sort out.
    Good luck mate :)

    my ferrari system 5000 did something like that after the last time the mobo was replaced, except it did not shut down like that. In the end something happened and during one of my class my computer almost went up like a christmass tree, (gotta love the smell of burning electronics, early in the morning)

    That system completely went so I sent it to acer, after an arguement I got a replacement.

    try a cooler, and thermal compound.
