The hidden partition is the factory settings. The purpose of the hidden partition is to make backup disks so you can restore the system back to factory settings (or you can recover using the partition pressing Alt + F10). I don't think there is a way to you can recover the hidden partition once it is deleted.
If your worried about losing the disk or them breaking make a copy of them onto something like an external HDD. Then, if need be, you can make other copies. -
My guess is that you purchased a secondhand 5535 from an owner that had the sense to burn the Recovery Disks before he/she reformatted everything.
Once again, not Acers fault. -
An old thread but here is a new related question.
I bought a new Acer Aspire 5535 in January this year.
When I tried to make a backup of the factory settings using the Acer eRecovery program (to write the factory settings from the hidden partition to DVD) it would write the disc but would fail the verify and therefore would not continue to write the second disc. The data on the disc is unreadable. So far burned 4 discs trying this and it is the same even after updating the program with an update from Acer.
I spoke to Acer telephone support and was told that Acer guarantees the hardware but not the software (even though it is Acer software ???) but I could buy backup discs for £45. Rip-off in my opinion.
Does anyone have a workround for this. I want to restore factory version of Vista Home premium and the only version I have is in the hidden partition in RAW format so no use without appropriate working software to convert it.
Any ideas welcome. Thanks, Jerry -
Buy expensive high quality DVDs and burn them.
Simple as that. -

You wont get rid of the hidden partition unless you purposely delete it when you are in the select partition to install the windows.

In bios, did is D2D enabled by any chance?

This will show you the status of the partitions on your HDD(s)
The hidden partition should be shown as Healthy EISA Configuration and will not have a drive letter asigned.
When you format a drive (C or D for example) it will not affect other partitions so the hidden one is still there unless you use DOS or the Disk Management to remove it.
Anyone have any knowledge on how to use the hidden partition information if you cannot make a backup using eRecovery (IT DOES NOT WORK). I understand using Alt+F10 at bootup still requires the recovery disks (yes/no?)
Thanks, Jerry. -
