I'm moving this to the Acer forum, since it has more to do with the laptop than gaming.

The only review I've seen from someone who appeared to be looking at it for games didn't seem great, I think they prefered the Sager (not sure which one).

I think you need to say what you are looking for in specifics to determine if this laptop would really be right for you (or not as the case my be).

It all comes down to what games you want to play really. Older games like HL2 and CS:S run at native resolution (1680x1050), with eye candy on quite well, but the "Lost Coast" level won't. With some newer games (e.g. FEAR, B&W2) you'll have to knock down the resolution and turn off some eye candy in order to get reasonable performance.

Essentially, the 8204/X1600 combinations gaming performance would be best compared with a desktop machine using an ATI X800 or GeForce 6800 and a 2-2.4GHz AMD CPU.

The real question is what type of mobility do you need? The TM8204 is a manageable size and weight for travelling with decent battery life. The only notebooks that will give you better gaming performance are monster DTR's with the 7800GTX, which give better perfomance but are huge, heavy and don't have the same battery life.

Choose what's going to suit your usage.

EDIT: Removed the GeForce Go 7800 as a potentially faster card. Yet to see it outperform the X1600 in anything except for one game.
