    hi all,
i have a 5810T which i purchased recently. i've installed all the latest updates and drivers from both microsoft and acer.

however, i've noticed the following problem. when my adaptor is unplugged, i hear a white noise/hissing sound coming from both the left and right speakers. when i plug the adaptor back in, the sound is gone.

i've installed the realtek drivers, adjusted settings in the sound options, etc.

anyone have this problem and have you been able to fix it?

    thanks.

I had a similar problem with my Acer 6930G. When I had it unplugged, in power saver mode and the laptop was tilted, the screen was making a hissing noise like the one you describe. When I changed the mode to High performance I noticed that the noise was gone. I thought it might be because of the lower screen brightness and I was right. So when I use the power saver mode and the laptop is tilted (hanging from an edge; I have to stand it like this some times, don't ask why), I set the brightness full and, boom, the noise is gone. Try to set the brightness full or use a higher order power mode, that might solve (bypass) the problem. Also if the noise is coming from the speakers, might be because of interference from the microphone that is present only in lower power mode. Check if by disabling the microphone, the noise is gone or by changing some of the settings in the speakers properties like Nature bass, booming, Equalizer, etc.

    thanks for the reply.
i tried all that you suggested but i still get the noise when i change power output to high and the screen is at full brightness.

i also muted and even disabled the microphone but still the same noise. also even changed around the sound settings even more.

i guess i have to stick with this noise. i don't know what else to try.

You can give it back where you bought it. They should exchange it with another one or send it back to Acer support. That problem might end up worse so it's better to prevent it now.
