I had to fix a similar issue on a Acer Aspire laptop (4535), this is what I did.

    - Downloaded latest bios from support.acer.com
    - Unzip and copy the DOS folder files (not the folder) to a FAT (not FAT32) formated USB thumbdrive.
    - Connect the USB device to an available USB port on your laptop.
    - Hold the FN and ESCAPE keys down.
    - Press the power button whilst still holding the keys.
    - Wait 20 seconds and release the keys (this will force the computer to load the new BIOS).
    - Leave the laptop until it powers off or up to 30 minutes (to make sure it flashes bios correctly).

Let us know if this solves your issue.

    Good Luck

ok... i have the lastest bios file downloaded. I just wanna make sure i know what files to place on the usb stick. i know you said the dos files which ones are dos files?

plus something else i noticed upon further inspection of the labtop is that the power light keeps blink an amber colour not sure if that is a further issue or not.

there should be three files on that DOS folder, in my case they were,

    kblg207.bat
    kblg207.wph
    phlash16.exe

Just place them on you empty USB stick.

On the amber blinking light, I'm not sure.

Thanks Nicoxis! I had the same problem (Aspire 4535 Black Screen)and I resolved with your instructions. But when I powerup the laptop.. again black screen :S, so i put the usb again and pressed fn+esc this time the bios update didnt started but the bios loaded succesfully, so i load the default config, and save it in to the bios and... voila! its working again :)
