    my acer travelmate 4230 touchpad doesnt work ive tried to download the drivers im running windows xp professional. if i click on the mouse icon in the control panel my synaptics pointing device is on the last drop down box but i cant enable or disable anything on the drop down box it doesnt even give me the option

    Have you tried Fn + F7 combo- it enables and disables touchpad.

    Yes i have and it doesnt work. im not sure if when downloading the driver its loading properly. if you click on the mouse icon the synaptics pointer device box is there but you cant do anything nothing gets highlighted etc. when downloading a driver is there some sort of trick im missing
