Just a couple of quick questions:

1)Which acer laptops have their heat vents on the right hand side of the laptop?

2)Which acer models with a 15.4" screen are the thinnest?

I cant really tell from the pictures in the reviews.

    Thanks.

lol, quite the opposite. Im right handed and so want to know which models will leave my hand burned!

Also (forgot to add this the original post), are there any Acer laptops notorious for bad heat dissipation?

    Thanks.

I question the issue with the heat vent on the right side, unless you use a mouse RIGHT next to the vent and the fan is blowing all the time (on the 8204 you need to be running some pretty intensive stuff to get that to happen, even EQ2 doesn't make that happen) then I'm not so sure it's an issue.

I find the bigger issue is trying to make sure that the vent on the bottom has enough room to suck cold air in.

Ive seen on the forum that users of the 5672 notice that the keyboard and area around the touchpad get very hot - so much so that you have to take "heat" breaks. Also, the air vent is on the right hand side so theres no escaping the touchpad heat by using a mouse. Is heat an issue with all Acer laptops?

Maybe even "the experts" don't have every model to give you all the comparisons that you want ;) - maybe you will need to go to a store and see for yourself!
But FWIW, I have the 5672, and it has serious heat issues on the palm rests and touchpad. Also it blows. Sorry, I mean that it blows out of the right hand side. :D
But it's quite thin. I like it except it really gets too hot...really

The Aspire 3000 as well as the 5000 series had the heat vents on the right and were pretty thin as well. I think it was around 1.5".

This Acer 8204 is my first laptop from Acer, and it's incredible! The heat vent is on the right side, in the rear half, and I never even notice it, since I use my mousepad forward to this. I ONLY hear the fan when doing graphically intensive gaming, and it's a low level fan noise, with the hot air venting barely noticeable. The laptop itself NEVER gets even remotely hot - easy to use on my lap.
    Can't speak for the 5672.

the touchpad on the 5672 gets very warm.. but i can deal with it... and also the air that comes out is not crazy hot.. and it does not bother me at all.. because i usually place the mouse pretty far away from the lappy. (if you are more than 4-5 inches away you cannot feel the heat)

dont worry ur hand is not going to get burnt by some air.

I can't feel my acer air vent because most of the time my mouse is slightly lower than it. When I do feel the warm air, it feels quite nice :)
