With the popularity of small, powerful 11.6" notebooks, it is amazing that Acer has allowed this model to simply fade away. Asus has a real hit with its U24, which is an 11.6" notebook with a full powered I7 CPU.

Acer had a real hit with its Timelines but has had some serious marketing/design issues lately. Hopefully, once Ivy Bridge is released, the Timelines' issues will be resolved.

are they competing for macbook air level of size factor now? I just saw 2 laptops around 13 inch similar to macbook air's size. if it's a new thing those sure are expensive as hell.

will ultrabooks replace this series? I don't feel the price tag could fill in this market

so they are selling acer 1830tz for 370 bucks in my area right now. if there's aspire v5 coming out that also has lower price range version of their form factor, I guess I could wait for that.

are the ultrabooks worth getting? how to all the ultrabooks/zenbooks series compare to this in general?

The V5 is likely to be in the $600 price range, It should have a full powered CPU however.
