    Hi im getting so frustrated i updated the bios of my acer 5742 to version 1.29(which i should have just left well enough alone) and now when i turn it on it has no display until i plug it into an external monitor then it works fine im tryin to figure a way to fix this but im not having any luck if somone can help me some way it would be soo appreciated thanks

    dude, don't double post unless its been a day or so :D



    Yeah, try flashing with the original bios if you can. hopefully you can change the boot device with the external monitor plugged in. If you aren't having problems with the original bios, then don't flash to a newer one. I personally like to have the modded bios with all of the cool stuff, but if you don't use/need/have time to deal with those functions then my advice is: DON'T.

    hey sorry just been messing with this for hours im connected to the external display now just trying to install the original bios it says the rom file isnt newer than that of the bios which im trying to find a way around then i think ill be all set ughhh

    If you are using phlash16 on a bootable drive just type in: 'phlash16.exe /c /v /s /x yourbiosfile.rom' should flash fine.

    If not, there may be another way to force it to flash with an older .rom, but I have forgotten the command.

    If you are using a utility in windows to flash it, forget about that and use this guide

    this has the insyde h20 bios ive flashed it to older versions but no luck with the screen im getting so stumped an frustrated as to what it could be

    with Insyde, I generally use the Windows flasher, or the Fn+Esc method. The Windows flasher has an option to disable the version check, while Fn+Esc will simply load anything regardless of version.

    ive flashed to all the versions of bios acer has on there website still no luck with my screen i dont know what could have happened
