    aspire 2010 startup problem

    When I start my computer up, probably 1/3 of the time it fails to startup properly and is so slow and unresponsive I have to forcefully shut it down by holding down the powerbutton.

    The only indication that I have during startup that there is a problem is the windows "jingle" fails to sound.

    When I reboot my computer it runs diskcheck and will start after that.

    I am running XP, have and always had nortons on this computer.

    Please any help would be appreciated as I am sure shutting it down this way so often cannot be good for it. Thanks

    No it started doing it about 18 months ago and being an intermittant problem I put up with it but lately it has just got to me as it seems to be happening more frequently.

    what is load on start up ?

    check the event logs in control underr administrative tools
