someone gave me an aspire 3050 with a broken power connector. so naturally, i tried to repair the old one which didn't work out too well, guess my soldering skills arent up to par for that job
so i ordered the replacement power board, and put in the, now i have other problems.
i have it on the desk in pieces hooked up to an external monitor and keyboard at the moment for troubleshooting.
basically, it turns on, screen turns on, nothing shows, and within a few seconds the cooling fan on it shuts off and i get a flashing light, i dont know what the light is, but its on the left side of it, under the numlock and caps lock leads
im thinking the people who owned it did more than trip on the power cord, im thinking they dropped it or something and its toast
the crappy thing is that the replacement part cost me 90$ i dont have, would be nice to get it working, wouldn't be a bad notebook with a turion x2, 2gb ram and a bigger hard drive
any ideas here?

well, i found another recent topic in there that described a similar issue to my new problem. solution was restoring the bios, which i tried, and met with failure.
im guessing the motherboards dead, wel, im pretty sure its better than a guess. im definitely not sinking anymore money into it. and i guess ill be parting off whats left of it on ebay or something
aspire 3050 problems?
