    hi

I have a problem with my acer aspire 5003, whenever i place the battery on the computer it freezes and the only way i can reset it is to remove the battery and power lead. If i run the laptop without the battery fitted it works fine. anybody got any ideas??

    cheers

    Danny

The battery may have developed an internal resistance or a short that pulls down the power rails in the computer when you attach it. Essentially it is starving the computer of power. Just disconnecting it while still connected to AC power won't fix the problem because even if the internal power level returns to normal, instructions to the processor became scrambled when it lost power causing it to (as an old instructor used to say) go out into the weeds.. or lose it's mind until you power it back up.

    You need a new battery..
