Blue screens mean one of the following:
a- your Windows is corrupted and needs fixing
b- you have a faulty ram
c- you have a corrupted or faulty harddrive.
The first thing you should do is backup your files. Then download memetest, it's a freeware, and use it to test your ram. If there is no problem with your ram you should move into testing your harddrive. For that you need to know your harddrive manufacturer website. If you don't want to dismental your laptop to check the manufacturer name then use PCWizard to find it out (you can download it from here). Once you know the manufacturer name go to their website and look for their haddrive repair software. You might find it under the support/ download section of their website. If there is no error reported after scanning your harddrive this would mean that your Windows installation is corrupted. To fix it you need Windows installation CD. One of the option on the CD is to repair your existing Windows installation. If this doesn't work you might have to re-install Windows from scratch (i.e. to do a fresh install). -
Thanks Naton for your info, I have run the memetest I let it do 5 passes as I wasn't sure how many passes it had to do but there were no errors. But when I did the hard drive test I had 3 errors so I changed the drive now I will try the test again and see what comes up.Will let you know what the outcome is.
Cheers -
