Alt + F10 won't work as you've installed a generic version of windows. What happens is, when you install a non-acer supplied operating system, this will overwrite the ACER MBR (Master Boot Record), which will make the Alt + F10 function useless. Your hidden partition is still there, but is rendered useless.
Your original post is very confusing, can you boot into windows?
If you can, do a disk cleanup. What happens is, when you have installed all of the drivers for the system, restore points are made on your system, this can use a lot of space. -
i upgraded my laptop from vista basic to premium.
my laptop hard drive is split in two c/ d/ .
i went to return my laptop to factory settings and take off the upgrade as i
thought it was a full setup.
i tried alt/f10 was unable to enter restore
when i tried again it started beebing fast i turnd off asap.
then tried again it went stright to boot manager optition.
the d/ drive has a file in it name 34d2b27dcessbeo36f.
i opened the file there are 2 folders mrt.exe 07/10/2008.
mrtstub 07/10/2088 has this any thing to do with restore.
i looked into disk managment acer c/ ntfs 31.51gb system boot page healthy.
data d/ ntfs primery partition healthy.
eisa configuration 11.71 gb healthy is this the recovery bit .
help please newbi at work -
is there anyway to restore with out using alt/f10. -
If you try downloading eRecovery, then either try to burn backup disks and run those or try a restore from eRecovery itself:
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5315.html
If you try a diskcleanup, there are options of wat you can clean.
Also there is a program called Tuneup Utilities, this will also do a diskcleanup for you, this will delete your system restore points, apart from your last one. You should see a massive increase in the diskspace you have free when you do a cleanup from a new install. -
thanks 4 the help.
if i download recovery will i b able to set the laptop to original factory settings.
the disk clean recovered 15gb -
Possibly, you'll have to download it and see iof it works.
