Plz i'd love to know if any1 can tell me if a 9600m gs or any other class 2 graphics card (not counting 8600m gs) can fit and work in a asphire 5520G i've been cheking soooo many sites and stuff, i can't find any thing on this! I also want 2 know if putting such a graphics card in my laptop can lessen its life time, and by how much? And sorry there is more...if this graphics card fits how much would it cost? thank u soooo much in advanced!

According to this site you can upgrade to 8600GT or *maybe* HD3650. No idea about 9xxx series. The cost? Maybe 200 bucks, not sure though.

Edit: on the same site there is a store section, you can get 8600GT for 250€($320).

And over here you can acquire an 8600M GT or 9500M GS.

There have been very few instances where the upgrade works, and only ONE confirmed case where the 9600M GT worked at full speed (that would be NightWalker's Asus C90S).
    If you're going from a 9300M G, the 8600M GT/9500M GS should be a huge upgrade.

Beware however, if your laptop have a fair amount of heat, as the 9500M series have been known to fail too often under high heat

oh and i've seen that the 9600m gs is a bit better then the 9500m gs. Is there enough difference between 9600m gs 9600m gt for the 9600m gs 2 work? Sorry i want the best for my laptop xD
    Thanks

    Tiz-12, the 9500M GS is a revision of the 8600M GT. Clock-for-clock, it's about 10% faster.
The 9600M GS is built on the same core as the 9600M GT, but with slower clocks. It'd probably have the same compatibility issues as the 9600M GT.

Oh sorry, but thanks for clearing it up. Thanks TehSuigi i noticed u have a 9500m gs, how does it run?And i think i'll go 4 that then.I heard that it runs crysis on med detail with almost unnoticible lag, and GTA4 runs low/med with no lag. I just want it so this laptop will be able to hadle the more power hungry games.Oh and can u give me advice about my CPU as well? I have a AMD turion tl-62 2.1GHz, how much difference will it make if i bought the tl-68 which is at 2.4GHz, for powerful games?Should my current CPU be able to handle most of the powerful games? Keeping in mind that a brand new tl-68 is very expensive?

I don't have that many games (just TF2 & Audiosurf), but it's handling those just fine.
Check here for some idea of power.
Also note that I've overclocked mine nicely and stably - might wanna look into that.

If you're looking for a 8600M GT or 9500M GS, check out MXM Video Quest - they got both.

The CPU should be just fine as is - at a certain point, the price you pay for the upgrade is too much for the performance gains you get. Do you really need 300 MHz more?

Ok thanks alot but that eBay store has nothing available at the moment, and i'v decided that a 9500m gs is fine for me. But at that place where they review graphics cards' power and system, at the bottom they gave the names of all the laptops able to use them. A asphire 5520G model isn't there, i'm a bit worried that the graphics card won't work, i've heard people confirm it works, but is there like some evidence? Oh and thanks about the your opinion on my CPU i will not upgrade that now. :)

Notebookcheck doesn't list all the notebooks able to use a graphics card, just the ones that come with it installed from the factory.
Since the 5520G has an MXM-II slot, and the 9500M GS should have an Acer video BIOS, the upgrade should definitely be doable.
MXMVideoQuest.com does have some examples of successful upgrades, including one of a 4520G going to an 8600M GT, and a 5720G going to the 9500M GS.

Ok cool I'll keep that in mind, and at mxmvideoquest when i tried purchasing the 9500m gs it said sold out.So I will wait for them to restock hopefully soon!!! :) Oh yes TehSuigi when i get the graphics card do you think i can put it in my self? Keeping in mind that I've only done work on desktop computers and (I'm in my 2nd level of system support) Could i screw it up majorly and kill my laptop in the same time? Another problem would be i haven't played enough with a bios to know how to work it or change things. Would the graphics card and the bios sort them selves out or is there some changes to be made?

Hmmm...if you're familiar with desktops, and you're careful, it shouldn't be a problem. Try and locate the service guide somewhere else online (prohibited here on NBR), as that'll help.
As long as you remember to put new thermal compound on the CPU & GPU cores, you won't cause any heat-related damages.
No worries with playing with the BIOS - the new card should be detected automatically.

Wow that was the fastest reply ever thanks, but while i wait for the 9500m gs can u help me. I'm trying to overclock my 9300m g i have force ware version 167.49 and i heard the 16xx series don't allow overclocking (it goes back to stock clock everytime i try overclocking), i tried getting new version but i need to pay for some driver detect software, finaly however i found free version detect software. But the 17xx seem only to work on the 64 bit system. But somehow after playing around with different versions i made version 172.29 start but at the end of install gives some error saying close all windows installing any programs now or something along those lines. Plz if there is any help you can give me i will appreciate it!
TehSuiGi thanks you are the reson why noobs become pro's one day, I owe you big time already!

I certainly do! You've got a few options if you want to overclock your GPU.
First things first, you're gonna need a driver that lets you do it. 169.04 is one of them - get it from LaptopVideo2Go.com, and use the modded INF - but it's rather old, and won't be WHQL approved (thus, no Blu-ray playback!).
179.28 is what I'm using right now - released by Nvidia themselves, WHQL certified, and allows overclocking! Not sure about 179.48, though. Get either from my Graphics Driver thread here.
I've also heard that 185.20 allows for overclocking, but it's very much an alpha driver and not meant for release.

Now, you've also got two choices for tools to overclock - RivaTuner, and Nvidia's own System Tools package (used to be called nTune). I use the Nvidia-released one since it integrates nicely into my Nvidia Control Panel.

And finally, once you're up and OC-ing, you've gotta test for stability. 3DMark06 combined with a solid hour of ATItool artifact testing will help you find your maximum.

    Be safe, and have fun!

EDIT: And hold on, you don't need any driver searching software! All you need are your DEV_ and SUBSYS_, and LaptopVideo2Go's online driver search page here. Get Device Manager open, right-click on your GeForce, pick Properties, then click to the Advanced tab and look under Hardware IDs. Grab the four-number DEV_ and eight-number SUBSYS_, then pop those in the search engine.

oh crap, TehSuiGi I installed 179.48 new forceware version i haven't overclocked or done anything yet but half life 2 doesn't work any more. Saying that hl2.exe doesn't work and when I managed to over ride problem (by constantly changing settings and stuff) it worked but with major bugs, like i can't change weapons, people don't walk but somehow glide over the ground at first it was funny till you realize you can't play the game any more!
Is there any bugs that steam has reported with this version?

Aham, sorry i installed a different version not the 179.48 but the 179.28 ops, i will test now and post to tell you how it went.

ok i don't think it was a forceware version problem, but any way i have reformatted and updated to version 179.48. To overclock a GPU will there be any changes needed on the motherboard, fan or Voltage settings? I'm not touching till i'm sure i don't mess up.

Nope - it's surprisingly easy to overclock if you use RivaTuner or Nvidia System Tools. It's all done through the drivers, no hardware mods required.
Just make sure to test for stability, and go in baby steps.
It took me the better part of a day to find my stable state, and I'm tempted to poke upwards a bit more to get above 4500 in 3DMark06.
