and they all freeze at the

    PCMCIA found, starting cardmgr

does anyone know why this would happen

and has anyone ever tried the knoppix live cd. i just want to know if this is an issue with just my notebook or if anyone else has had that issue.

I have ubuntu on mine and it runs fine. The only problem I did have was with the original live cd I burned, it was a bad one. To fix this I downloaded the file again and burned another cd. This fixed the problem.

    Cheers

with it stopping that means it can find a particular peice of hardware. Prior to booting into linux you need to flag it to ignore that specific device if it keeps hanging there. -pcmcia , etc.

    --ssx--

ok i figured it out with the help of SSX, instead of just putting enter like i have been and it not recognizing the pcmcia, i used knoppix nopcmcia, then it didn't recognize the udev so i used

    knoppix nopcmcia noudev

and i am currently typing this in knoppix 5.0.1 it runs great on my laptop.

the only thing is theres no sound. i will try to figure this out.

    EDIT

ok i cant figure out the sound. maybe it was when i bypassed the pcmcia, or udev

if anyone else can figure it out it would be much apreciated but im going to take a break now after working on it for about an hour. i cant figure it out :(
