i have tried 3 different versions of knoppix linux
3.8
4.0.2
5.0.1
and they all freeze at the
PCMCIA found, starting cardmgr
does anyone know why this would happen
and has anyone ever tried the knoppix live cd. i just want to know if this is an issue with just my notebook or if anyone else has had that issue.
any help will be greatly appreciated.

Uhm..im not sure it can run linux though i could easily be wrong
-
well i did a search and apparantly some people have been able to load fedora core 4 and ubuntu.
hmmm so i wonder why it wont load knoppix, its a live cd by the way. -
I have ubuntu on mine and it runs fine. The only problem I did have was with the original live cd I burned, it was a bad one. To fix this I downloaded the file again and burned another cd. This fixed the problem.

ok ill redownload it and try again
although it stops at the same spot with all 3 versions of knoppix. -
with it stopping that means it can find a particular peice of hardware. Prior to booting into linux you need to flag it to ignore that specific device if it keeps hanging there. -pcmcia , etc.

ok i figured it out with the help of SSX, instead of just putting enter like i have been and it not recognizing the pcmcia, i used knoppix nopcmcia, then it didn't recognize the udev so i used
knoppix nopcmcia noudev
and i am currently typing this in knoppix 5.0.1 it runs great on my laptop.
the only thing is theres no sound. i will try to figure this out.
EDIT
ok i cant figure out the sound. maybe it was when i bypassed the pcmcia, or udev
if anyone else can figure it out it would be much apreciated but im going to take a break now after working on it for about an hour. i cant figure it out
aspire 5672 and linux
