are u cloning the display? I do the same on my plasma, which can only view a resolution of 800x600, but.. I'm not cloning it, I'm just extending my display. And I've set the secondary Display to a max. resolution of 800x600.

Maybe you've set it to a wrong resolution, and your tv wouldn't show a 'resoultion not supported'-message, instead it'd show you a black screen.

Try a different cable. If your TV has a S-Video port use a straight S-Video to S-Video cable. If it only has a composite port then there are S-Video to composite video cables (note these are only one way, S-Video to Composite). The S-Video port on the Acer is video only, the cable in your photo has 3 connectors coming out which I assume is for video, and audio. I'm assuming this cable is for a different computer or that your Acer is different form the ones we have in the United States.

    Two thoughts.

    1. Check that something else will display on the TV, you are trying to interface two devices, it could be that the TV is at fault currently (not the right channel, not setup right etc).

    2. Check the cable, make sure that the cable actually works (again, try another device if possible) and will display video output from another video source on the TV screen.

Looks like that cable should work. It also got some decent reviews. I mainly use a S-video to S-video cable when connecting to my TV, but I've also used a S-video to Composite cable, mine is only one way, S-video to composite, it lacks the circuitry to seperate out the composite signal to S-video like the Amazon cable does.
