last year I rebuilt my 6920 and put in a motherboard with the mxm slot and everything from a really good deal I got on a 'for parts' 6920g off of ebay.
I'm not sure if it's possible, but it looks like the motherboards are the same, just one has the mxm slot and hdmi plug stuck on it (and maybe some other small things). My question is, is the on-board intel graphics still active on this board and can I switch back to the intel graphics when I'm on battery power? Even if I had to reboot to switch it still would be interesting.
not that I really care, just wondering if its possible after reading about switchable graphics![]()

No- that's impossible, sorry.

The 6920 has the Intel GM965 chipset, with the Intel GMA X3100 graphics accelerator integrated. The PM965 chipset found in the 6920G physically contains no integrated graphics element. (If you look closer, the PM965 die is slightly smaller than the GM965 one.)

on the mobo with the integrated graphics the mxm card slot isn't on the board. but, I can see the place where it would be stamped on if it had one. If someone with alot of time on their hands soldered a mxm type 2 slot to that board do you think it would be functional?
(with or without a bios mod, or use of the bios from the 6920g) -
Probably supporting components are also missing. Plus, the video outputs are routed to the GMCH, rather than the MXM slot (the latter can be overcome with the help of Optimus).
