this pile of crap came back from acer with a new main board after the graphics took the knock and a new HDD
so i wiped it clean after i made the recovery disks, put in vista 64 ultimate and now i can't get Empowering Tech to work, it keeps on saying, sorry this is not an acer product.
So i thought it might have just been cos of the new Op system so i used the back-up disks to put it back to factory settings and Em tech still says the same thing.
is there a reg hack to make it think its an acer system,
i've done a snapshot showing that it is a acer product.
any help will be great thanx.

    peter

why do u want that bloatware in your machine,, all its options are available thru the control pannel except Erecovery,, and that harddisk encryption thing,,

in my experience the only acer SW you really need is LAUNCH MANAGER

    cheers for the comment :)

but it looks like i`m gonna be sending this back again anyway.
cpuid shows it running at 800MHz and with a multiplier of x4
it should be 1800MHz and x9

check it while running a program like wPrime

new CPUs do use speedstepping technology to conserve battery power when not under a heavy load,, just a thought,,,, i know my CPU never goes below a 6X multiplier,,, but rises to 10x under full load

I've downloaded a program call rmclock, went into the settings and managed to get it to run at 1.8GHz with a constant 1.000V
cos even under idle the multiplier was up and down.
tested wPrime without rmclock running and the multiplier was still up and down, done the test in 67 seconds but i re started the rmclock and it did the test in 47 seconds.

i'm not too experienced w/ AMD cpus since back in the K6 days,,

but i use RMclock to undervolt my CPU, and to allow my CPU to drop multipliers so as to save power and create less heat

your wPrime scores are just better than my best w/ all my extra processes shut down... so that second score is about right.

as for why your AMD would switch multipliers so much,, i'm at a loss
maybe some other members will chime in later with more info

    later,

    am i uderstanding you??

you are using RMclock to OVERVOLT your CPU??
if so then you definatley need to contact ACER tech support because
A.) you have either a MotherBoard malfunction that isn't providing proper voltage to the CPU

    or

B.) you have a flaky CPU that wont opperate properly with the correct voltage supplied

wish i could be more exact, but it's hart to trouble shoot a PC long distance via conversation... but if it were me, i'd be talking to an ACER tech rep ASAP

You are understanding me correctly, this thing had a new mainboard a few weeks ago the graphics part was faulty, ive just finished work
    ( 05-40am ) :(
to find it crashed again so i'll ring acer when i wake up later except this time windows gave a error report, ( well sort of lol )
the gpu also ain't stable, it should be running at 350MHz but its only at 100 sometimes 250MHz, i'll let you know how i get on with acer.
