    hi all,
my aspire will wear down a battery in 4 days while it is turned off. the battery is good and will hold a charge for a month if removed from the laptop. is this normal to wear down a battery so fast while ''off''?

There is a long thread on this somewhere but two comments.
I have a 1810TZ and find that I need to unplug the laptop from the mains before turning it off/putting it to sleep otherwise the battery is slowly drained. Unplugging it from mains a few second before shutting it down or putting it to sleep resolves that issue.
From the thread that I can't find it seems that the 1410's seem to almost all have a fault which means the battery drains over time. The above fix does not work for them.
Hope you have a 1810 and not a 1410.
