    Hey,
Two days ago I installed some encription software and upgraded zone alarm pro and after I restarted my laptop after about an hour the laptop slowed down so much that it took 2 mins to load up the start menu after clicking it and another 2 - 3 mins to go to shutdown. Plus it took 5 mins to shut down. The nest day I booted up and it said a windows file is corupt or missing so I restarted 2 times and it loaded up fine. Now I thought it might have been the software I installed so I uninstalled it and restarted. The file corrupt message dont appear and it dont slow done as much as before but it is still slower at booting up. I have also noticed that the windows xp white bar appears and it stops for a few secs and then carrys on. This never happened before and I dont think the bar used to even come up, it just used to go straight to xp splash screen.

Thanks for reading this longish post but can anyone help as I only got the laptop end of april and it should not slow down like this. Also i dont wanna reinstall windows if thats possible.

    Thanks Again

perhaps there is still something in the registry. try using something like crap-cleaner or regscrubxp. also, perhaps there was an hd error. you might want to scan your hd with hd tune.
