I have an aspire that was purchased running vista home on 512mb of ram @ 266mhz on a Celeron m 1.6ghz. The laptop is about a week old and it was purchased from radioshack. It was so slow that opening the control panel took about the same time as ordering a pizza. I reformatted and replaced vista with xp pro, not thinking that it would require an additional piece of software to allow the bluetooth and wifi cards to work. Does anyone know of a solution for the empowering software on xp for this laptop? Currently, only the vista version is available on acer's site, and it doesn't work on xp.

Actually the acer euro site has all the XP drivers you will need for your aspire 3680, this is the direct link.
You can see that under XP the atheros driver is there you need ver 5.3.0.45. If your notebook actually has bluetooth installed (Note many acers have the bluetooth button on them but don't have the internal bluetooth module needed for it to work) you can get the driver there as well. All of acer's empowering technologies are also available on that page for XP as well.
Hope this information helps you out...
On a side note the reason why your notebook felt sluggish on vista is because you only have 512mb of ram, to be more comfortable in vista you need atleast 1Gb. -
That site was exactly what I needed. I found the correct wireless drivers. Half of the drivers on the american site are wrong or corrupt.
The laptop was "sold" to a friend of mine by a radio shack employee that told him that it would run just fine with vista. I build computers for a living, so I would have known better, but he didn't think to call.
XP blazes on this laptop, compared to vista.
