I am using an acer aspire 3690 and i am having an interesting problem with the audio on the computer. When i tried to turn the volume up, i did not see the bars on the screen that show the volume level. when i went to volume control (control panel->sounds, speech, and audio devices->sounds and audio devices) from the control panel, it said that no audio device was found. Here are the items that i found in the "hardware" section of the volume control.
- HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T10N
- audio codecs
- legacy audio drivers
- media control devices
- legacy video capture devices
- video codecs
I looked in the "Troubleshoot" section, but found nothing with this type of problem.
Thanks,

Can you still physically here any sound when you play for instance a song mp3 etc? Your notebook uses realtek HD audio, I suspect you many need to reinstall your driver.
Acer's launch manager is what is used to show the volume bars on the screen when you turn up or down the volume or turn on or off the wireless etc so make sure that is installed first. If that doesn't work then try re-installing the audio driver for you notebook from the acer euro site for the aspire 3690 located here -
i cannot hear any sound at all. I know that the launch manager is installed, so i'll try what you said...
