I seem to have a problem with the backlight on my 8920G - last night the screen suddenly went black, but the computer was on and the screen too, just the backlight was off.

I pressed Fn+F6 (turn on/off screen), and it came back, but switched off immediately. Did this a few times, decided to leave the laptop off for the night. In the morning I cleaned out the dust as well, to be sure. I turned it back on, in ~30 mins the backlight was off again, so I did the Fn+F6 thing, turned off, so now I decreased the brightness and things seem fine.

I suspect this might be a power management/software issue, not hardware, but please let me know if you guys have any ideas. Thanks!

    bump - anyone?

For the record keeping on lower brightness the past day seems to have resolved the issue for now, but I'm afraid it's just a temporary solution

follow up: it looks like tilting the monitor causes the problem. My guess is that the sensor that checks if the lid is closed is dirty or stuck or something. Does anyone know where I can find this sensor? Thanks
