I heard that you need nvidia certified drivers for blu-ray to work , not 100% certain though.

Thanks for the help, my laptop was playing blu ray fine, i only updated the drivers cos i found dvd playback a bit ropey, since windows 7 ive had no touch sensitive controls or fingerprint reader either, if this pile of c rap hadnt cost me 950 quid itd be through the window right now, if youre a pc enthusiast my hat is off to you, you must have infinate patience.

Your best bet is to look for Acer's nVidia drivers. There was a note on nVidia's web site that their drivers don't work with Blu-Ray, but that was back when they first started to provide laptop drivers. You need to go to some site that provides OEM nVidia laptop dirvers, for example http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/, and download newest that work with your graphics card. That could be problematic, because it looks like Acer is always lagging few versions behind official nVidia drivers.

Blu-ray is especially finicky - you need WHQL-certified drivers to enable playback.
Get the latest non-beta one from Nvidia.com and you should be fine.

Touch controls are handled by the Dritek Launch Manager, and the fingerprint reader by the ABIG BioProtection software. Go get them from Acer's download page here.

I know it can be daunting, but I'm sure that with a willingness to learn, you can make it work.
Oh, and please post your system's specifications in your signature so that we can help you better.

Lol i went on a bit of a frustration rant on this and another thread, soz for that and thanks for all the great help, theres no way im giving up on my lappy i was just venting.

Thanks to the links provided i have all my touch functions back :) the only thing i cant get is blu ray back, i have the very latest WHQL drivers from nvidia but still get WMC saying:

To play this DVD you must first install a playback application that supports BLU-RAY disc, with vista it played it fine.

Oh! Do you have Acer Arcade Deluxe installed on your system? That's the software that enables Blu-ray playback; it's not standard in Windows Media Center.
Get it from the Drivers & Applications disc from eRecovery (which you could've burned before upgrading) or get the installer from here and the latest update from Cyberlink, who makes the software.
