I placed an order for a Vostro to replace my dying Sager a few days ago. I'm a want to be hardcore gamer, just lacking the time (2 babies at home) and the money to buy the latest and greatest lol.

I decided to check out the Acers, to see what pricing is like. I go to their website and I have no idea where to begin!!

You click on Notebooks, and then they just toss about 50 different laptop Series at you! I can guess what the difference is between an Aspire and a Ferrari is, but do they honestly expect me to manually look at every single model # they have, to see what's available? Doesn't look like a great way to make new customers to me. Anyone know of a better way to search their models? Like sorting it out by screen size, GPU, etc.?

    Thanks! :)

    Chris

I always had problems with the American Acer site, so I use the Euro site which I never had problems with.

I lost respect for them after my experience with an Aspire 5000. But with my replacement I am slowly starting to respect them.

Bad luck- Aspire 5000 (Quanta made) had design flaws and unfortunately was very popular.
I used for it for a while. My own Aspire 5024 (Wistron made) is very reliable on the other hand.

for a cheap gaming laptop could look at the 5920g,
Its a great laptop and the build quality is very good. Looking back 6 months to a year ago i would have told people to stay away from Acer.

The build quality of their laptops was terrible imho. But in the last 6 months they seem to have steped up a gear. Im loving my 5920g and the build quality is very good. Feels more solid ie better quality plastics than the various hp's and dells i have had and used.
