    picture (note the white wire):

basically my computer works fine (im using it now), BUT after gaming for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes you start to experience flickering adn then the graphics card stops responding, and recovers, and i get the (infamous) 'nvlddmkm' error And i recently noticed one of the wires leading to the display, on the left side, is completely busted (there is another similar wire on the other side but it is black) so my question is, is there any possible way to solve this without sending my computer away?

also, when i first start the computer , the screen is white rather than black and also when i first lift up the lid, the screen is white for a second

    Tough one to answer.

I suspect one of the wires is perhaps for the WiFi (aerial). If it were something required by the LCD panel it just wouldn't work if it were severed. I would want to measure and see if there were any voltage on it for interest. That could be a clue.

The Nvidia problem is well known, particularly when gaming I believe... maybe a more recent driver would help. TehSuigi is the one who might know.

The piccys too blurry to make out detail tbh, it almost looks like a shielded cable but just can't really tell.

Well it can't be for wifi, since the wifi works fine..

All I know is, it runs all the way up the left side of the monitor, and then straight along the top (leading right to the webcam), that being said both the webcam and the mic work fine with no trouble at all.... So I have no idea what that cable is supposed to be for...

(as for nvidia crashes ive been trying to fix that for months, trust me, ive tried nearly every possible solution you can possibly thnk of)

edit: i think you were right, it is something to do with wifi.. that would explain why there a similar wire the other side, and i still get a wifi signal (although its weak). anyway, at least now i know its nothing to do with the LCD like I had thought .

Hi, on my 8930g there are no wires going through there that go to the display. The only ones there are a red and a black one and it was the black one on mine that had come unsoldered from the power jack...

that's what I want to do but there doesn't seem to be enough slack to connect it back together..

Hi, you can unscrew the whole power jack from the hinge mounting, to check if we're talking the same cable. However you are correct, the cable is very tight and that's possibly the reason why mine pulled off in the first place. I managed to pull on mine to get a bit more movement. Yours looks more difficult to repair and you might need the whole power jack replacing.
This one Acer Original DC Power Jack/Cable - £24.00 : Acer Spare Parts illustrates what I'm referring too, however the jack might be slightly different on the 8920g.

Well I had another look , and there are indeed red and black wires leading to the AC jack as you mentioned, HOWEVER they were unharmed and still fully connected . So we can't be talking about the same wire.

This wire is white and it it leads to the top of the LCD, and if I had a lose ac wire my computer wouldn't run at all.

I will post some better pictures as soon as I can find the camera I used .

Well now one of the black wires going to the AC HAS become un soldered . although i managed to sort of jam it back in (i dunno if it did anything) although it still works. is this bad/unsafe?

I just was playing GTA IV and a random spark come from off the surge protector which cant have been good.)
