    can the fan temp setting be lowered?

    hello,

    on my acer travelmate 4062LMi the fan only kicks in if the temp is 50C. is there any way to lower this temperature?

    Try I8kfangui, you can set the temp for the fan to kick on I think.

    i tried installing I8kfangui 3beta4 but it does not work on my acer.

    Another program to try is Speedfan, I dont know if it will work with your laptop but give it a shot and see. If any of these programs dont work then you are out of luck especially with the limited options in the BIOS.

    Actually I used NHC to set the fan on my Asus M6N and it worked very well. So it actually works, but you never know until you try. That is why I suggested NHC. :)

    Edit: New NHC has ACPI fan settings, the old ones used to have other fan controls that worked for me.

    i've tried speedfan and nhc, neither are able to contol fan and temp. though nhc next version is supposed to come with some fan control.
