Lets start out by looking for an acer teardown guide for you.

I started by going to google and going with this search - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=travelmate+2700+teardown&btnG=Search

Then I took the first hit which pointed me here - http://www.eserviceinfo.com/equipment_mfg/acer_43.html

With your model being an acer travelmate 2700 lets take a look at what we got here ;)

According to the .pdf I downloaded on the website, go to page 3 of the diagram teardown and you'll notice that once you take off the keyboard there is a stick of memory under there ;)

On my Travelmate 4000lci both were on the bottom side of laptop for easy acccess, however due to size constraints companies like dell and hp are also moving to stick memory under the keyboard.

If this helps then by all means great ;) If not I tried :)

Can you provide us with more info please? I'd like to know what side of the laptop you are working with and what "letter" screw you are removing (they are all lettered or numbered)
