i have an acer 5100 and it was running real slow so i tried to use the recovery cd that they gave me when i bought my laptop. i tried to boot through cd then run the cd but at first attempt it gave me an error 0xc000 sumthng like that. so i restarted it and tried it again. but this time my computer keeps on shutting down everytime. how am i gonna finish doing the recovery thing if its doing that? :( and so i put back on default the boot order thing and it comes to a black window with 2 choices.. start windos normally and the launch start up thing.. but it wont go through neither of it. keeps going back to the two choices.

whats happening to my laptop? hope you guys can help me..

Hmm, do you have SATA HDD installed..??
Which version of Vista is installed..??
Do you have the Vista CD with you..??
The full error code will be helpful in solving this problem.... :)

Yes you can definitely download one, and reinstall using the OEM serial....!!
But if you have installed home premium sp1 then download the one with the sp1 otherwise not..!!
and is the error 0xc000000c or 0x0000000c..??

no, i haven't. and i can't log in anymore. windows is not even starting. im thinking windows vista is erased during the process. is that possible? coz i only got to the point where there are 2 choices: windows start up repair and start normally. whichever i choose it only brings me back to those 2 choices over and over and over again ;c

tell us exactly what you see when you power on.

do you see an Acer screen and then a Vista splash?

If you can, as soon as you see an Acer screen press f2 to get into the bios...make sure the amount of memory that you have installed is being reported and then go to your HDD options and change it to IDE emulation (if applicable) Save changes and restart.

    give us a status report

nop. no vista spalsh just the acer screen. the only thing i can access is the set up.

you know when your computer isnt shut down properly. they bring you to a black screen giving you choices on how you want to start.

[IMG] <-that's the farthest i could go.

what do you mean by IDE emulation? i only have IDE 1 and IDE 0: pioneer dvd-rw dvr-K16rs- (P

Try the F8 thing....though BIOS problems are rare, unless you had fiddled with the settings recently..??
