    how does changing the graphics memory in bios affect the performance for the laptop does it make games run better or slow the notebook down . not that i play games i just want my notebook to perform as fast as it can

    Changing the amount of RAM allotted for an integrated GPU isn't going to do anything. It may actually slow the computer down as it has less RAM to work off of. Integrated GPUs automatically manage how much RAM they use, and don't need user intervention.

    i would say it would slow the unit down as there is less memory bandwidth available for the ram. Also the integrated graphics on the 5100 aren't powerful enough to take advantage of a larger amount of memory.

    With my 5102 I just leave the graphics memory in the BIOS @ 128mb. It makes no sense to carry it up any further because as the other posters told you the xpress 1100 isn't powerful enough to even use 256mb+ of memory. Leave it at 128mb and keep the rest of the ram for use in windows instead of wasting it...
