Hi for 799 i got amd x2, 2 gig ram, 512 mb video card, and vista

    questions:

last night after 4 hour of battery charge and half hour of use, my wife states the computer just simply turned off. no warning, nothing. whats that about, should I exchange it.

second, lappy is hot on the left side of the keyboard. Uncomfortabbly hot. Is that an amd issue vs intel's chips?

any and all thoughts MUCH appreciated :(

I have read that circuit city is misleading customers that X1100 video card is only 256mb max  ...

If your notebook just shut down for no reason it may have been overheating. Since it is new the vents are undoubtedly clean therefore to me you are blocking the fan vents some how ( always use a notebook on a hard surface like a table or perhaps your lap BUT NEVER ON A BED OR COUCH! the soft surface will block the fan intake vent on the bottom of the notebook and strangle the system always remember this).

I suspect the reason your notebook is reacting the way you said is because of overheating, the left side is where the processor is located so if it is getting hot you have blocked the usual cooling vents that the system uses to cool itself. I have come across so many people who use notebooks in bed etc and then when it overheats (and gets really hot) and shuts down then they ask whats wrong with my notebook.

If what I described is not the case then yes you should take it back to circuit city as it might have something else wrong with it. The Amd vs Intel issue is IMHO not an issue at all in your case.
