it's most likely set to extend your desktop onto that "monitor". If you want the desktop on the TV, you need to go into the Nvidia control panel and set it to use a single display and then select the TV in the drop down box. That will also disable the laptop screen for the duration. Worth noting that there's a bug with the nvidia drivers that appeared for me when I set it up on the TV - the colour settings change and then reset themselves to that setting every boot and you can't do anything about it. Vista and Nvidia drivers apparently.

Once you apply it the screen should transfer to the tv. If you don't have a full HD tv (won't do 1080p) you'll either get a blank screen or it'll be in 1080i. If you get a blank screen wait for it to timeout and return to normal, then adjust the setting for the tv that lets you choose 1080/720 etc (can't remember exactly where that is at the mo).

You can right click the acer eAudio Management icon on the taskbar and select Settings - HDMI Audio Output. If you have a 5.1/home cinema system that can take an external decoder input, you can use the 3 headphones jacks to get the sound to that.
