I have obtained a new AMD Turion 64 1.8ghz x2 dual core processor CPU TL-56

I wish to replace my current turion 64 mk-36 with the new one.
can someone tell me how to do this as i do not know how to open this laptop.
Is there anything i would need to swap out the cpu?.

You'll need to totally dismantle your notebook, then you'll be able to upgrade your cpu. Be carefull, remove the plastic part near the screen (with on/off button) to access the last screws. Let the thermal pads on chipset and vga, it's hard find something efficient to replace them. Tell me in PM if you need the service guide for this 9300... But it's quite simple to open. :)

Click on user cp on left top of page to edit your settings, it seems you can't send/receive pm for the moment. Then send me your email

I don't think so, but be sure you have a socket S1 on your mb, but you will see quickly if the new cpu suits... :)

I will take another look on amd site for it though.

ok just a quick update. took the laptop appart today. was straight forward. changed cpu over and re-built it back up.
    worked straight away :).

for anyone else the turion mk-36 in the aspire 9301awsmi can be swapped out for a x2 64 tl-56 without much effort.
