    hi
i have some problems with my laptop:

    -crashes or freezes very frequently
-especially but not exclusivly when typing
-sometimes not booting anymore or freezing while booting
-after crash checking harddrive, where it also detects errors (e.g 96kb in damaged sectores, or some file errors)

i tried to replace the harddrive but same problem!
anyone experiencing s.th similar or any ideas?

    ok memtest indicates errors...
the problem for me is that i'm currently in the US but i'm not from here and i also didn't bought the comp here...
I contacted acer usa for the Travelers warranty but it already starts to get complicated...

Brands like Kingston, Corsair, and Crucial are always good ones to go with. Cheaper, non-branded RAM also works, however, it may not be guaranteed to work.

You can get the same RAM, but if the price difference between a good RAM and the RAM you have now isn't all too much, I would consider the better RAM. Brands like Corsair, Kingston and Crucial are all recommended.

zero, thanks a lot for your replies !
I mean is it ok to have two different modules or brands built in or should they be pairs?

Having different pairs makes no difference. The only thing that will happen is that the RAM will not run in dual channel, but this is not a problem as dual channel doesn't help performance out much at all. The increase is something like 1 to 2%.

I Am having the exact same problems as you (on my TM 8204).
Just thatt he crashes happen when i start typing a lot (or just start typing random things as a test)

Also mine crashes outside windows (during POST, in BIOS, etc.)

Though my hard drive didnt have any errors. I couldnt get memtest to work but will be trying that again.

Though every thing is great when I use a USB keyboard..

For Memtest make sure you have the latest version, also for Crashes while booting (I had this for a little while) make sure your CD/DVD drive is fully plugged in, I discovered I'd "half" ejected mine (while playing around with the various buttons on the bottom of the laptop) and as such Windows was sometimes not working properly.

Make sure you eject the DVD Drive all the way (using the switch on the bottom of the laptop) and then plug it back in firmly.

I Tried memtest again, no problems...
I couldnt figure it out so i just sent it in for waranty (Which is costing me a lot because I had to rent a laptop from school until it comes back.. 10 dollars a day :( )

    Good luck with your wwedo!
