So after packing up my comp at a friends house my comp is kinda dead, it was alive before I left my home and everything was fine then.
When i try to start it the cpu is flickering for a bit then freezes so i dont se any bios or anything.
The blue tooth and the lights to the right of the key board are lit to and I have no idea what to do.
Ive tried my old ram mem sticks, pulling out the battery and trying without it, trying a new hard drive, checking for loose cables inside the comp, checking for dust and screaming at it but nothing works.
I talked to some friends and they suggested something called flashing the bios but I have no idea how to do it and I dont know if it will work since i cant se the bios start up screen before it freezes.
I have called acer but they basicly told me to send it in but i dont know if i have any varenty left on it so I rather try to get it working on my own before sending it in if I still got varenty on it.

Just noticed now that before it freezes it does 2 very faint beeps but i dont know what it means
-
Try to connect to external monitor..
Those beeps...2 short beeps and nothing more? -
ya just 2 low beeping sounds.
tried 4 diffrent rams (2 2gig and 2 1gig) in both slots, all of them by them selves.
also noticed that the fan powers down when it kinda freeze, donno if thats something that it should do. -
connected it to a external monitor and it gives thoes 2 beep yet again.
-
Since you cannot flash your BIOS(and I don't think this would've helped anyway)m the only thing I can think of is a CMOS reset. Unfortunately I have no idea where the CMOS jumper is located for 5920.
Edit: When connected to external monitor can't see anything either? -
i couldnt se anything at all.
whats a cmos reset? -
Reset BIOS to the default factory settings.
-
Look for 2 pins with label CMOS somewhere around the RAM. For some ACER laptops it's located there.
-
Cant find anything that say CMOS but it might be hidden under the stuff i cant remove without losening everything
-
Well I cannot locate it either although I have pictures of 5920 motherboard(too small though).
CMOS reset is the only option I have for you. The only thing left, apart from CMOS.........well you didn't check the CPU yet - it could be fried or something. I suppose you don't have a spare CPU to test this theory..?
Could be the motherboard too. But this cannot be tested anyway.
You should check your warranty status and send it to ACER, IMO. -
Thats a problem becouse i dont know if i still got warrenty left becouse i got it about 8 months or so ago from a guy and he said he had it for a month.
**** computors and thair ****ty "hi you restared me so now your F´ed" ;( -
Well you know this kind of thinks happen. Keep monitoring this thread for a few days someone might come up with a solution..
I think you still have warranty left. I suggest you contact ACER. -

On Acer's website there is a link that will allow you to check for warranty of the computer and who the warranty is in. secure3.tx.acer.com/FindSystem/FindSystem.aspx?title=Information About Your System
Click the link and hopefully that will help you out. Remember any major upgrades that involve the motherboard you will null and void your warranty. I had that chat with them
If there is no warranty and it would cost to much to fix if thats the chance...I'd suggest running away from Acer. -
Hold on.. Two faint beeps? I've noticed teh DVD drive can sometimes make a beeping noise on a couple of mine.. A long shot, but try taking it out and then booting. I don't think they beep as such, but they can make a noise very similar. I'd expect a BIOS beep to be a normal Phoenix type sequence and quite loud.
-
Does the dvd drive prevent you from booting up when it does thoes 2 beeps?
-
No, I just remembered when it spins up it beeps softly sometimes... Hence thinking maybe it could be the drive is pulling the lappy down on your one. Certainly I'd try reseating the memory and pulling the hard drive and DVD to see if it can power up with just the basics connected - Not got anything to lose at this point really
-
Ok so in your own words, you can remove and replace memory, check cables inside of the laptop, replace a hard drive, take the laptop apart and dust it but you have no idea how to flash a BIOS?? Something doesnt add up here.
When you say the CPU is flickering, do you mean the hard drive light is flickering? Or is the computer itself making a flickering noise? -
yes the hdrive light is flickering a little before it stops.
besides i cant flash the bios if i cant get in to it and i cant find the cmos pins becouse its under the "hull" of the comp and i have no idea how i can remove that without taking the comp apart completly (yes ive tried once). -
ratchetnclank Notebook Deity
Can't you clear the cmos by taking out the silver battery on the mobo?
And then putting back in after about a minute. -
yes i can but i have no idea where its located on a aspire 5920g
-
Hi!
I have the same model as yours. And I have a dead laptop too. In my case my GPU fried. It doesn´t start and when I connect it to an external monitor I can see acer logo, some green lines, the windows starting and stopping with a BsoD.
So, I suggest you try with a different gpu (if possible) and see what happens.
