Plug it in, see if it's fully charged or not. If not, I would get it to 100% before you start using it.

don't take the chance,, i've heard of batterys comming partially charged,, but if they get RAN FULLY EMPTY there is a slight chance that they will never take a full charge again... not battery memory,, but actual damage!

Charge the new battery uninterrupted for a minimum of about 15 Hours in your lappie.

Only then attempt to use the battery.

Our school bought seven Acer Aspires for international students. One student has contacted me (tech support) twice to report that the (plugged in) laptop shows "96% and not charging." The user is concerned. Personally, I would think there is a range of (in-)accuracy and that this is not something to be concerned about because if the monitor knows it is that close to being fully charged, it shouldn't be charging so as to avoid over-charging. Make sense? If my thinking is faulty then what should I be doing. As far as I know the same could be true of all the others but people just not noticing or not reporting as this one student is doing.

my acer has the 97% and not charging
it'll eventually get to 100% though, it just seems like it slows the last few percentages down

After 15 Hours solid uninterrupted charging boot or reboot the computer.

All should report 100% charge then.

    Cheers,
