    does all the laptops come with original xp?

    i had this question.i got a laptop but it didnt come with the original xp driver.does it mean the laptop is refubrushied and used?it was acer extensa 6601 and it had instruction for recovery cd but it didnt have winxp cd.what do u think?

    That's probably right. I don't think many systems anymore come with Windows XP disks, or standalone application install disks, either...

    All HP Laptops do come with the original disks.

    Manufacturers are getting stingy by the year. Trying to make a profit in any way they can find. Many do not include restore disks. Among the top players HP/Compaq is one of the few to include original Windows discs.

    Dell, Acer, Sony, Gateway - do no include any discs and expect you to burn your own. Although Dell will provide a disc if you were to call ask them. I think they charge $10 for them.

    Yes stingy it one thing, but also most people loose them over time. So if some old lady was to call up tech support and didnt have a clue on where the CD's have gone, its going to take up more time and money to get the problem resolved. A lot of makers now are putting the restore info into a hidden partition of your HD. It's much more simple for the tech to say "run this program" to restore and clear the problem. Although, it's also a down point when some user clear out the partition to retrieve the extra space and then forget that there's no recovery disks.
