    downgrade vista to XP on 5710

    hi!

    i've got a Aspire 5710 with vista home premium pre-installed.
    I want to downgrade it to XP.

    Help pls. :eek:

    Hi stevoman,

    Do you want to completely remove Vista or dual-boot Vista with XP?
    If you want to partition and dual-boot then, first download VistaBootPRO from the net and save it to the recovery partition (usually contains one) otherwise save it in a different location from the HDD that you'll be formatting.

    this link has a great tutorial on slipstreaming the SATA drivers... don't change the HDD mode to IDE in the bios use this CD method from this webpage,,,

    i'm not up on the 5710 specs,,, but if it's same mainboard as 5720, then most of the drivers on this page will work since the 5720 and 5315 are both based on the acadia mainboard

    I managed to find this pdf which may be of use to others. All the XP drivers seem to have been taken down from direct links on the Acer website but a bit of Googling and lateral thinking got me this. The links seem live, or at least all those I've tried so far.
