    q8phantom,

Did you need to uninstall the previous version, or does the updated installer take care of it ?

Sorry for the double post, but after deleting my 'never mind' post above, I was afraid people who saw it wouldn't look again.

Anyhow, has anyone tried these on an Aspire 5102?

The reason I ask is that even though the screenshot looks identical, my version numbers are almost the same but with an extra "0" in some cases.

For example, my "Framework" version says v2.3.2015 (both on my computer and on the Acer DL site), where the link above is v 2. 03.2015.

    They otherwise seem identical.

All I'm really interested in is the ePower Management which shows the nice Tooltips for the mode you're in, and the remaining battery time without opening the program (like shown in q8phantom's screenshot).

But again, my present version of ePower management is 2.0.2016a, where this 'new' version shows 2.00.2017...again, the extra "0", but otherwise looks like a newer version unlike some of my others.
(I'm afraid even though the version numbers are really similar, they're different somehow though depending on the Laptop model).

I wonder if it would work on the 5100 just so I have those tooltips?

    Anyone tried?
    Thanks.

    ok my friend
    don't worry
i think you have the new version but with the old ePower
you can just download ePower and skip others as they
i have done this before so don't download anything just ePower
    i'm waiting for ur replay

    Thanks for the reply q8phantom

That's what I'm thinking too...all of my other ePowering Management add-ons are the same version numbers (except for that extra zero).

Even the framework is the same except for the extra zero (and like I said, it looks exactly like your screenshot).

It's just the ePower I need.

I guess I could just un-install the ePower Management v2.0.2016a I have, and then install the v2.00.2017 from your link.

(I looked for the ePower download for the 5100, but all I saw was the v2.0.216a...I couldn't even find the v2.00.2017 you posted).

Anyway, I take it I should un-install the old one first? (I'll give it a try)

Unfortunately, I can't do it until tomorrow because my Laptop was left at a relatives house since I last posted.

    Thanks again!

is there any reason to use epowermanagement? i uninstalled all epower stuff as soon as i noticed that it forces things to be on / off depending on power status rather than just leaving them as they are.

with bluetooth and wireless, i want to keep it on when it's on and off when its off - no matter whether i am plugged in or on battery. the old epower didn't do that for me. so i would suddenly lose my bluetooth or wireless connection when unplugging the computer. after that happened two times, i uninstalled it.

now i am using plain old windows settings and frankly it works just fine. it shows the remaining battery life pretty accurately and it lasts just as long on battery as with epower management.

the only thing i change from time to time is the power settings in ATI catalyst - when i am mobile and want to play a game, i crank them up. that's all. but that's also not possible with epower as epower is just about plugged in/on battery.

wonderin' what epower management is good for?!

Is there a way to upgrade the NAPP? Or can anyone tell me what NAPP is? I am having a hard time upgrading the eRecovery program that came with my Aspire 5635WLMi. I am being told by Acer that the software is unit dependent? Hey this is just a software, I hope someone can tell me what to do coz the first version of the eRecovery sucks!

There are a list of default profiles, but you can edit any of them and "save as" to make your own schemes for different power states, including what adapters you want turned on/off, CPU speed, screen brightness etc.

Everything installed flawlessly on my TravelMate 8210 except the eRecovery tool.

The framework launcher was placed in my Startup folder during installation, so it was starting up upon bootup. However, for some weird reason, it would always crash after about 5 minutes. So, I removed it from my Startup folder and remapped the "e" key in the Launch Manager to the new Empowering Utilities file, and now I simply launch it only if I need it, like the old way!

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner q8phantom (I've Been away for a while).

    Anyway, you were right.
I already had everything up to date except the epower.

I had v2.0.6016A of ePower instead of the v2.0.2017 you posted.

The good news is that (after I made an image of my c partition just in case), I installed the new version of ePower right over the top of my old version and everything works great...not to mention it kept all of my custom settings.

When I finished running the installer, it told me it had 'updated' my ePower to the newer version.

So thank you for the info!
I now have the extra tooltips I wanted in my system tray.

(By the way, as mentioned in my earlier posts, this is on my Aspire 5102WLMi).

    Thanks again. :)

    AS5630 here.

BTW, why are acers sites so difficult to navigate for these sort of updates?

Acers like to think in regressive, not progressive, terms :D Honestly, who knows. OEM's aren't exactly the best place to get up to date things anyway (except obviously for OEM specific stuff). Maybe they just need a new website designer. I'm a big fan of HTML 1.1, anyone else? ;)

Well installation seemed to work fine. Every application is working except for eRecovery. I still have my hidden partition. Never changed anything on it. For some reason the application dont recognize it. Since i use it frequently to make backups i have uninstalled all the new ET and back to the old one :( And guess what eRocovery is working againt :) Too bad i actually liked the new design. Very streamelined widget design and very handy.

I have a Travelmate 8215WLMI. If anybody knows hot to get the new eRecovery to work, please let me know!!!!
I think its a shame that Acer is not doing much for their business users. When u have a great application like ET and u make an update u should make sure that it works for everybody. Seems like they have not used same procedure for the eRecovery since it wont work on some laptops.

Hi all, apologies for these thicko questions but my wifes Aspire 3020 (3023wlmi) is having low battery life. Its around 12 months old. Basically she uses it for surfing.

What does this program do? May it help with better battery life? Is it an Acer product?

If this doesn't help what can we do to improve battery life? Windows Power management is set to Laptop.

    Hope you can help.

well, I find that the epower feature does a much better job than windows with managing battery life. I am running widows vista and prefer this program over the stock setup (you can easily set throttles on CPU) and this program automatically adjusts the screen setting (a feature i have yet to find in windows mobility manager) i realize that you may not be running windows vista but also keep in mind that microsoft's intent was to atleast improve in as many areas as they could.

Am currently runnuning XP. Did a full charge and it says 1hr battery life.

Also found a FAQ at Acer saying I can't use this Empowering Technlogy.

Do you think the battery (15 months old) is on its way out?

I had a little bit of problem over time with the ePower application. it seems when changing some settings in Display Properties, i'd get some memory issues.

Application popup: ePower_DMC.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x7c910f83" referenced memory at "0x0003d47a". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program

I accidentally installed the wrong version on my 5100. When it starts, I get the "unsupported OS", so I tried to uninstall it and just as that starts, I get this error > Failed to retrieve plugin subkey <. Making it impossibel for me to unistall this. Is there another way to do this?
